Easy Butterscotch Frosting

with 33 comments

Oh my! Oh my my my! I discovered this easy butterscotch frosting recipe quite by accident. I had planned on making German Chocolate Surprise Cake (recipe coming), but I didn’t have one of the ingredients. I had already baked the cake, but didn’t have any ready made frosting, so I improvised with what I had on hand.

Easy Butterscotch Frosting

Half a jar of butterscotch topping (the kind you put on ice cream)
About 8 oz of whipped topping
Vanilla pudding mix

I poured half a jar of butterscotch topping in a bowl with the whipped topping. It was too runny so I decided to thicken it up with some vanilla pudding. I had one of the big boxes of vanilla pudding and used almost all of it. The amounts will be as to how thick you want your frosting. (Remember, I just used the pudding mix; I didn’t add the milk to make the pudding).

And oh my gosh, it is sooooooo good. It’d make an extremely decadent butterscotch pudding, that’s for sure!
